My Review (ARC provided)
5 stars!
This book was amazing! It wasn't anything like something I've read before, so different. Sunniva always captures me with her novels and makes them unique and interesting. I had the privilege of reading the first part of this story in the anthology Beneath The Cape (which I highly recommend). It left me so curious where she would take the rest of the story. And let me tell you she didn't disappoint. There is suspense, romance, and a cat women! Sunniva knows cats too because she explains them perfectly. I really pictured a cat women while I was reading this and I think that was so important for this story, her detail to the cat/human was exactly how I would have thought it to be.
Aidan (H) has a talent for calming people or somewhat the power of mind control that he uses to help out mental patients at the hospital he works at. Ulani (h) happens to be a patient who also happens to have a super power. Circumstances bring them together and Aidan doesn't want to see Ulani get hurt, so he takes her home. Aidan becomes attached to Ulani and soon they are working together to figure out the mystery behind the patients that keep going missing.
Oh my god the sexual tension in this book, I felt it and was like please let something happen...but if you're familiar with Sunniva's writing she likes to take you to the very end. She has a knack for torturing us readers. ;)
And I love that about her, not only the sexual tension
but the suspense of the book too. I kept waiting, heart pounding to see how it
would all turn out. I'm not going to write any spoilers because that takes the
fun away from the book. I love the bits of humor she sprinkles throughout the
book.
"You have a very sweet girlfriend, little Aidan. And I see no reason, in this day and age to limit yourself to your own species if you're otherwise inclined. As long as it's consensual. I mean, if your cat is human most of the time, and you only...Cats really are beautiful."
Ulani is such a complex interesting character she is
sweet but catty (hehe) too, she is confused about her power and wants to learn
how to control it and use it for good. Aidan and Ulani were a captivating pair.
Aidan struggles with his want for her but he wants her in control, so he tries
using his powers to help.
I absolutely loved their dynamic and Aidan was
the best guy ever, he was totally patient and understanding when Ulani got out
of control. I think that he liked the catitude and feistiness about her.
"I can save people's lives-be a superhero, cartoon style. All I need is to learn how to shift on command."
So once again Sunniva has provided an extremely unique
and original story. This is one you should definitely read.

I'm originally from Norway and moved to the
United States in 2001. I have a Master's degree in languages and taught
Spanish at college level before settling in as an adviser at an art
college in the South. I write New
Adult fiction with soul. Sometimes it's with a paranormal twist—like in
“Shattering Halos,” published by The Wild Rose Press in February 24th
2014 and in “Stargazer,” released, November 21st 2014 by the same
publisher. Since then, I've self published New Adult Contemporary novels
“Pandora Wild Child,” and "Leon's Way," with "Adrenaline", and "Beneath
the Cape", the superhero anthology benefiting The Wounded Warrior
Project in its entirety. I write
impulsive heroines, bad-boys, and good-boys running amok. Intense love,
physical and emotional attraction —sensory overload for the reader as
well as for the characters. My goal? Is to keep you on your toes until
the end of each story.
