The first time we met was at a party.
Your ex arrived to show off the person he'd left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.
I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty--and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.
The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.
The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.
I know I'm crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that's the only reaction I can get out of you, I'll gladly take it.
You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.
I think I'm falling for you, and I know it's wrong. I know that I'm only supposed to be your adviser and nothing more, but here's the thing. I think you're falling for me too.
xo, Zach

4.5 stars!
I
have to admit, this book was TOTALLY worth the read. I love Kendall
Ryan's books and have been reading them for a while. This story has all
the elements I have grown to know and love from a Kendall Ryan book!
Zach
Austen has to be one of my favorite male characters. He is smart, sexy,
sure of his feelings and what he wants, but also has a confident,
almost ego driven side too. He's put together and has his own ideas for
where he wants his life to go. The moment he meets Poppy Ellis, he knows
she is the one thing that he wants.
Poppy
Ellis is sweet and soft spoken. A bookworm at heart, Poppy's life has
not always been easy. As she starts her master's program, she is
determined to stay on track with her plan, that is until she realizes
the man she asked to be her fake boyfriend for a night is her academic
adviser.
The
sexual tension between these two characters is palpable but due to the
reality of her life, Poppy is extremely reluctant. Zach, on the other
hand, is firm and strong in what he wants, and I really admired his
ability to know and own his feelings, even when things are not going his
way.
This
book has a sweet little plot twist and filled with supporting
characters that I really loved. It was easy to love both Zach and Poppy
and want them to get their happily ever after.
This
is a lovely book that flows easily and creates a story that is easy to
sink into. It's a sweet, heartwarming story that is perfect to get you
in the mood for love, just in time for Valentine's Day. I highly
recommend this story!
