Five Stars!
I devoured this book! It was such a nice change of pace from my usual reads. I am left hanging though, and can’t wait to get my hands on book 2!! This book has my mind reeling with all the different scenarios that could happen. Will there be a love triangle? I kinda can already feel the angst. And who is he? I have an idea but I could totally be wrong. I can’t say more about the he and who because I don’t want to ruin anything.
When Kat’s world turns upside down she is forced to live with her grandmother, she has never met her and isn’t prepared for what she’s about to learn. Kat’s whole life her mom kept her sheltered and protected but now that she’s about to turn eighteen and her mom isn’t around she is about to learn so much more about her abilities and what her mom was hiding. You can see as the book goes on that Kat is becoming more accepting of herself and learning to embrace how special she is. She is becoming more accepting of her new fate and the town she is in.

I should’ve taken her insurance information and driven off like any reasonable CEO with places to be would.
She crashed into my car, for heaven’s sake.Becauseshe had to sneeze.
What did I do? I didn’t get in my car and drive away, if that’s what you’re thinking.
Nope. I stuck around. I could suggest I stayed because she needed help, but the truth? She was really, really hot.
We became fast friends. Then friends with benefits. Before I knew it, we were involved in an illicit office romance that had me fumbling through a drawerful of panties to get a Post-It.
It was supposed to be easy—a fling, if you will. A dashing millionaire hero (*adjusts tie*) and a beautiful (stubborn, frustratingly independent, hell-on-wheels) damsel in distress. (Don’t tell her I said that.)
It wasn’t supposed to be forever, but we did want a happy ending. (Pun intended.) We could’ve made it work, too.
But one of us overcomplicated things with the L-word. And the other? They omitted a truth that changed everything.
The Perfect Catch was just that, perfect! Walker was pure perfection and Kate was such a uniquely written heroine. She was strong and self-confident, didn’t let much get to her but the Walker was the one thing that broke her strong composure. It showed how human she was. I love that about Meghan’s writing. Walker was so closed off and in the beginning, I just knew he had a backstory that would explain the way he was. I knew I liked Walker and as I read more and more I began to love his character.
“There is something to be said for someone who doesn’t talk very much. When they speak, their words hold more of a punch than ever expected.”
Kate is the team’s new PR manager and she needs to help Walker clean up his image for the Bobbie’s. She knows Walker will be tough to crack but she didn’t realize beyond that wall and rough exterior there is a softness to Walker that no one gets to see. The more and more time they spend together they form a bond and attachment that neither can seem to deny. Kate gets Walker, she listens to him and he hasn’t had much of that in his life. She accepts him for him and doesn’t care about everything else that surrounds him. They know they can’t act on it but what is one night?
“I’m not a soft man, never will be, but I do feel as though Kate dug deep enough that she found the man I want to be.”
This book will have you panting and begging for something to happen between these two. Meghan is a master at sexual tension but holy crap this one was crazy, like me yelling at the book in frustration for these two to get some relief. Haha, but anyways I love Meghan’s writing, her stories, her humor, and this book was another home run. See what I did there?
As the most hated player in baseball, I had two options: either clean up my image or pack my bags. Being traded wasn't an option which only meant one thing, I had to become compliant.
That's how I found myself sharing a small bistro table with Kate Chapman, the Chicago Bobbies newest PR Manager. Devastatingly beautiful, vastly intelligent, and incredibly cunning, she knows exactly how to handle my grumpy demeanor.
It was supposed to be simple. Book some PR events, show up, smile for the camera, and be done. But one massive mistake on my end sends me into the trenches with Kate, forcing me to open up to her.
Innocent glances turn into cordial encounters. Secret touches turn into tempting invitations. And dangerous nights alone turn into consuming desperation.
I’ve never wanted a woman as much as I want her. And I know she wants me, but there’s a no fraternizing with the players rule. Neither of us can afford to lose our jobs, but we also can't seem to keep our hands off each other either.
EXCERPT:
I slip on my clothes, going for a pair of jeans and a long-sleeved Henley. I push the sleeves up, still heated from the shower. I leave my hat in my locker, opting for a quick swab of styling pomade through my hair. I couldn’t care less what I look like, but Coach always likes us to be somewhat presentable after a game in case we run into any press.
Hungry and ready for my bed, I head out of the locker room and am making my way toward the players’ exit when a throat clears behind me. I glance over my shoulder to find Kate Chapman standing against the wall, her purse draped over her shoulder and a beautiful smile gracing her delicately freckled face.
She quickly gives me a once-over and says, “It was the socks.”
I can’t help it, I let out a low chuckle while slowly shaking my head and turning toward her. Hands in my pockets, I say, “It wasn’t the socks.”
Her mouth drops open in disbelief as she approaches me. “It was so the socks.” She points her finger at me.
“Don’t even deny it.”
“It was all my practice.”
“Yeah, practice with me. Just admit it, Rockwell, you had fun last night, the socks were a good luck charm, and you played your ass off tonight.”
I don’t believe in superstitions, which is unheard of when it comes to a baseball player, but I’ve never geared my play around being a habitual player, either. Instead, I do what feels right. So, believing in socks having a special power and helping me gather some hits tonight—nah, not real. But I will say this—having my socks up reminded me why I was behind that plate. It reminded me of being small again and taking joy in the little things.
Was it the socks? Maybe.
Was it the thought of the girl standing in front of me?
Maybe a little more.
“It wasn’t the socks.”
Her head falls back as she groans. “You’re so stubborn.” She makes eye contact with me again. “Do you realize that?”
“Yeah.” I rock on my heels, trying not to stare at her too much. Just picture me pitching to you.
When I said that would be too distracting, I meant it. With her softly curled hair and her gorgeous smile that doesn’t seem to ever falter—unless I’m a total dick and walk out on her—she’s caught my eye.
She’s starting to imprint herself on my brain.
She’s starting to make me feel shit I shouldn’t be feeling.
“Well, I’m—”
“What are you doing right now?” I ask out of the blue, surprising myself, and her.
“Uh, I was going to give you a hard time and then go home?” she says with a hint of question at the end.
I nod at her. “Hungry?”
She eyes me suspiciously. “Starving.”
“Want to get some food?”
She chews on her bottom lip, thinking about her answer, and I know it’s not in a joking around way, but more so she’s afraid. Afraid of me, possibly. Afraid for her job, most likely.
So, I add, “You know, to discuss business.”
It’s against team policy to fraternize with the players. I know that, she knows that, but, for the life of me, after seeing that infectious joy on her face, I had to ask her. I had to try to spend more time with her.
“Well, if it’s business . . .” She smiles brightly and then nods behind her. “Follow me.”
There’s a small complication. A beautiful, sexy complication named Hanna.
A Kiss for A Kiss, an all-new second chance-at-love mature adult romance from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is available now!
I’m Jake Masterson, single dad, and the General Manager of Seattle’s NHL team. I walked away from a career as a player so I could raise my daughter. For the last twenty-plus years, Queenie has been my main priority, but now she’s getting married. And there’s a small complication. A beautiful, sexy complication named Hanna. She’s my son-in-law’s older sister. Or at least that’s how they were raised. The truth is a little more scandalous than that. I’ve been drawn to her from the moment I laid eyes on her. And I spent months trying to keep a lid on that attraction. Until we finally give in. It starts with one searing kiss, but quickly ends with us between the sheets—and in the shower, and the hot tub, you get the picture—and turns into months of sneaking around. Here’s the problem: we live on opposite ends of the country. It can’t be anything but casual. And as I’ve already said…it’s complicated. But when Hanna finds out she’s pregnant…suddenly things get real serious.

Five stars!
I have been waiting for this book! After reading Queenie and King’s story I immediately posted about wanting a book about Jake and Hanna. I was hoping for a novella, so when I heard about A Kiss for a Kiss being a full-length novel I was jumping for joy. Helena did such a good job with these characters. You truly felt like you were reading about a more mature hero and heroine just by the way everything was handled, and I have to say it was so refreshing to read about a 40 something couple, (being 40 something myself) and it still be fresh, smart, and sexy.
Jake and Hanna try so hard to have a fun fling without anyone knowing, they have had a thing for each other for a while planning their kid’s weddings together. They finally decide to act on it, but when a little mistake happens, they have to end their hidden romance. Let’s just say it throws King off and Queenie is ecstatic about the possible coupling of her dad and “mother-in-law”. I love the conflict and resolution in this book, and like I said I like how two mature adults handled it. I’m not saying they were perfect by any means but so human and realistic to what I can imagine would really happen in their predicament.
Jake is such a good man and Hanna such a good woman and the two of them just work together, and their chemistry was so HOT! I am so happy Helena gave her readers this book, it exceeded my expectations!
I recommend this book along with all the books in this series, you will not be disappointed!
