FIVE STARS!!

KANDI STEINER HAS STRUCK AGAIN!! WOW, this book is definitely in my top three favorite Kandi books I have read. Close Quarters had me hooked from the very moment I read page one of the book and kept me seeking to discover what was next for these characters. No author does angst better than Kandi, and this book was not lacking in that department. I absolutely fell in love with Theo Whitman and the passion he shared with Aspen as the book progressed. Close Quarters had such a slow burn that you couldn't help but not want to put the book down; literally, I had my ToDo list piling up as I was reading this book and I definitely don't regret continuing to read as my pile grew.

I'm so glad to have read this book and not to have it sitting away on my TBR because it was so worth the read!!!

Five Stars!!

I love this series so much! I feel like each Kincade story gets better and better!! Drew and Brexton are exactly what I want in a second chance/friends to lovers romance. The flashes from past to present were right there when you needed them. We got such a good idea of their relationship before everything happens without it giving away too much. It keeps you guessing up until the end and has you feeling for these long lost friends. I guess you could almost call this a forbidden romance too when your family doesn’t want you to have anything to do with the other.

Drew and Brex grew up together their parents were best friends until one day it all ended, no one knows why and it is never discussed again.

Drew is a second-string quarterback but when Brex happens to stumble upon him practicing after all these years she knows he should be more than second-string, she knows he’s not starting for a reason and it’s not because he’s not good enough. Once Brex and Drew connect again there is no turning back they are attracted to each other like magnets and no matter what’s in the past they need each other. Drew is determined to leave the past alone but Brex wants to know what happened.

Drew and Brex made my stomach summersault they just had chemistry from the start and there was no need to convince me they belonged together. Kristy wrote their relationship so well from past to present that you just knew the two were meant to be. In some stories, it takes more convincing to really believe that the hero and heroine belong together and have a strong bond and chemistry but in this story, it was clear, and as it went on those butterflies grew and grew.

“Are we simply a match striking, igniting, and then waiting to burn itself out?”

I fell in love with these two and although I’ve loved the two stories before, Drew and Brex are my favorites! I can’t wait to see what Kristy has in store for the last Kincade girl!!

Another FIVE stars for Meghan!!!

The Strike Out is just the book I needed to bring in the New Year, and surprise surprise it’s Meghan Quinn! It seems like the past few New Years I’ve gotten the pleasure of reading one of her books. Everyone needs a little Holt Green in their life, in fact, I texted my bestie just that, “you need Holt Green in your life.” He was the perfect mix of everything you’d want in a man; funny, dirty, sweet, charming, hot, and cocky. I have been dying for Holt’s story, wondering who his mystery girl was that was locker room material. I remember reading The Locker Room wanting more of him and we finally got it! And let me tell you the story of Holt and Harmony is so worth the wait.

Harmony is a strong feisty girl that has her guard up and for good reason, she’s been burned before and works so hard to make ends meet. She needs to get through school and hold a job so that she can pay for her education. Holt is the exact reason she has her guard up, an athlete, rich, and on scholarship. He’s too arrogant and privileged to be in her life. Or is he? His persistence has her breaking down her walls but he needs to prove to her that he isn’t who she’s chalked him up to be.

I loved the story of their relationship and how Holt wouldn’t let up. He knew what he wanted and went for it. I also love the text messaging Meghan always puts in her books, they crack me up and always have me smiling. Harmony and Holt made such a perfect couple with their banter and sexual chemistry. I could go on and on but you need to read to experience the quintessential couple that Harmony and Holt are.

“Four patty melts, then?” Harmony asks, with a little more attitude in her voice than before.

“That would be—”

“Nope.” She pops the P with a snap of her lips and refuses to look at any of us.

“Then the patty melts would be—”

“Do you have something against us being on the baseball team?” I ask, turning my entire body toward her. Carson groans. He becomes “ravenous” when he’s drunk, and I know all he wants is his patty melt with a plateful of fries, but I want some answers first. 

The stigma on campus is that the players on the Brentwood baseball team are entitled assholes—which might be true for some of the players who’ve worked through the system, but not for us. There’s also a good chance, at least once a day, that we run into a student on campus who hates us. Didn’t think it would happen before school started. 

“Dude, you’re so aggressive right now,” Knox says. “Maybe she just—”

“Yeah, I do.” Harmony props her hand on her hip. 

“Okay, never mind.” Knox leans back in his booth and folds his arms over his chest. 

“Let me guess,” I say in an irritated and affronted tone. “You think we’re a bunch of entitled assholes who rule the campus and don’t deserve half the benefits we receive for being on the team.”

She folds her arms as well and with a whole lot of sass, she says, “Yeah, I do. Your expensive stadium, equipment, staff, and full-ride scholarships eat up half the tuition on this campus, leaving nothing for us peasants. You’re obnoxious, self-righteous, and think the world revolves around you. Meanwhile, the rest of the students around you work at shitty diners, earning low wages, serving drunk morons like you at all hours of the night, just to put ourselves through college so we can earn a degree, graduate to a shitty job that won’t pay for our student loans, and wind up in debt with the rest of the country.”

Yikes. 

Silence falls. What do you say to that? 

Clearly, she’s bitter, but with the passion flaming in her eyes and the claws ready to shoot from her fingertips, I think I should slowly back away. 

Jason takes that moment to appear from the bathroom, and he sits with a resounding plop. He glances around and asks, “Did you order me a patty melt?”

Rolling her eyes, Harmony takes off toward the kitchen, leaving us concerned. Is she going to put in our order? Because we want our patty melts.
