“You had to be everything I’ve dreamed about, every wish I’ve made on falling stars and birthday candles and pennies in mall fountains, and you had to make me fall in love with you.”
This book was so damn heartbreakingly beautiful! Talk about being on an emotional roller coaster. My friends know I don’t usually go for an age-gap romance because, honestly, they usually give me the ick. I just had this feeling that Jennifer’s writing wouldn’t do that to me, and I was right. I went into this book with an open mind, and let me tell you, I ate it up. Her writing is beautiful, and she takes you on this incredible journey of love, friendship, and growth. Reed and Halley are soul mates, age be damned,
Reed is an incredible person and father and just wants to do what’s right. He struggles with his feelings towards Halley and tries to bury them.
Halley has been through so much in her lifetime, and she finally has found someone she connects with on a deeper level. All while struggling to keep her feelings at bay to protect a family she truly loves.
“Father didn’t love me; Mom didn’t love me enough. I guess that was why I loved too much. I had a lot of loveless holes to fill.”
There was so much sexual tension and angst in this book that I could hardly stand it. I felt like I was rooting for something to finally happen, but then I wondered if I really wanted it to happen. Like I said, it's an emotional roller coaster.
I can’t tell you how happy I was to receive the ARC of this book; it met every one of my expectations. I can’t imagine I’ll read another book that will bring it to this level for a long time. It is truly a fantastic read!
