I wasn’t given a choice. Not when I did my first line of cocaine. Not when I became a single mother. But I changed, and every decision I’ve made was to protect myself and my son from my weaknesses—and my past.

Until Jude came along and made me question everything, even my own secrets.

The sins I carry with me can never be discovered. Life handed me broken bits of people and left me to construct my own world, and it’s too fragile to take a chance on Jude Mercer.

We write our own stories.
We build our own prisons.
We weave our own lies.
We commit the sins that bind us.

My Review (ARC provided)
5 stars!

Wow this book! I honestly had no idea what to expect going into it and it was such a pleasant surprise. A bit hard to read at times, (because of the circumstances) but such a good story. I kept thinking I had it figured out and then I would second guess myself.

I think I have to place Jude on my top ten list of heroes. He was everything I would want, smart, sexy, artistic, compassionate, funny a tad bit alpha, a tad bit cocky and tattooed. Yeah pretty much perfect except for one detail that I will not disclose.

Faith (h) has had a rough go at life. She's trying to raise her deaf son, be there for her sick grandmother while working and attending her NA meetings. She meets Jude at one of her meetings and since their initial encounter he has tried to insert himself into her life. Faith needs to keep her distance from people, she has secrets that cannot be told but Jude is persistent and soon the two of them are on track to becoming something more.

"It's a waste of time to wonder what he sees in me. Attraction is funny like that, and although I'm a mom, I like to think I look pretty good-when I remember to brush my hair."

I could not put this book down and while I was reading it I found myself texting friends telling them they needed to buy this book. Geneva takes us on a rough journey getting glimpses of Faith’s past and so fluidly picks back up to present time, I never felt disconnected or confused.

I really felt the deep connection that these two characters had. I was rooting for them all the way.

"When he stills we stay like that for a long time, two souls tangled in nature: man and woman, primitive and timeless."

This was a beautiful story one of the best books I’ve read this year. I am so glad to have had the privilege to read and review it. I highly recommend.

"We're all addicts. Most of us just turn a blind eye to that fact."
