I loved the title of this book and the dual meaning behind it. I loved the cover of this book. I loved the emotion in this book. I had heard that this story was emotional and it was but I wasn't prepared for how deeply connected I would become, and honestly at about fifty percent in I was thinking yeah the topic is a hard thing to cope with but I can handle this it's not that bad. Then BAM "it" happened and my heart felt like it had been torn out and then just when I was starting to feel better it was stomped on. I was numb for a while, then I was angry...and the author did this to me with her story/writing.
I think the blurb gives us a pretty good idea of what this is about, but nothing prepared me of how I would feel reading it. I went through every mood while reading (talk about bipolar). I really felt connected to the characters, especially Hudson. And she listened to Ween! I showed my husband that part of the book because we are both big fans. Anyways I had a love/hate relationship with Crew, he infuriated me at times and other times I wanted to wrap him up and snuggle him. He stomped on my heart a couple of times too. And Caleb stole my heart I loved that kid so much! I don't want to get into it too much more but Hudson our heroine truly is one, she's beautiful on the inside and out and makes it her mission to fix and heal. She is one of my favorite heroines in along time. Crew Crew Crew our hero is a good person but somewhat lost, he wants what's best for his family and has taken on the "father figure" role but he doesn't realize he's putting too much pressure on himself. He ends up making some pretty bad decisions because of his investment to his brother (Caleb).
This was such a beautiful but flawed story about healing, growth, and love. I would recommend it to anyone.
