Incase you missed the review of the first one....Knockout (Wayward Fighters) By: J.C. Valentine

ARC provided 3.5-4 stars!

After a brutal childhood Alyson learned early on that she could only depend on herself. The only other person she could depend on was taken away from her early on; in handcuffs and destined for prison. He too came from a horrible home and sought Aly out to protect her...until he was taken away.

Years later their paths cross again and they reunite.

Jamison has a hot temper and uses it professionally in the ring. When Aly walks into his life again he is determined to keep her there and once again becoming her protector.

Now after years of separation, they are eager to learn about and re-explore each other. Soon the lines of their friendship blurs confusing them both. He thinks he doesn't need a distraction or more than friendship but she might just be the kind of distraction he really needs.

I enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I did have a few issues with how Aly handled certain situations. Aly was a victim of abuse and now a case worker for abused children/families but some of her choices seemed dumb for an intelligent girl who has been through similar situations. I understand she had a big heart and risked her job for a family that needed a home because the situation was so similar to hers growing up, I just didn't feel she took the right precautions. First being that they were supposed to be in hiding but she takes the son to a fight when she knows that this woman's husband is a professional fighter?? There were just too many suspicions things going on for her to turn a blind eye. Especially with what she did for a living.

Those are just a the few issues I had but the story held my attention and I'm anxious to find out what happens next.

Thank you to the author for providing me a copy.
