Slade (Walk of Shame #1) by: Victoria Ashley

Slade (Walk Of Shame, #1)

3.5-4 stars

So I hated Slade with a passion but thought he was so f**cking sexy! I didn't start liking him until the very end, I wanted to scream at what a cocky asshole he was and even though Aspen was suppose to be hard to get I feel she gave in a little too easily. I wish she would have given him a harder time. I still enjoyed this book, it was steamy, sexy, and hot, I needed a fan after that read. If you want a guilty pleasure this is it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Patiently waiting...

Can you say July 1st!!

Flat Out Celeste by:Jessica Park

5 fabulous stars!! I loooooved this book.
If you haven't read Flat Out Love I suggest doing so before reading this book.

Celeste is all grown up and a senior in high school, she's trying to decide what college to attend while still trying to overcome her awkwardness around people and in social situations. When Justin from Barton College in San Diego emails her and tries to propose his school to her they form an instant connection through emails.  He has his own quirks and she finds them adorable where others find them annoying. They soon meet and develop deep feelings for each other. While trying to manage a long distant relationship and their own insecurities a secret comes out about her brothers breakup and destroys everything. Will Celeste ever get over her issues? Is Justin the person to get her to come out of her shell?

*****slight spoiler*****

When I first read that Julie and Matt broke up I was devastated. I looked at my husband and said, "remember that book I read about the girl that carried around a cardboard cutout of her bother and how much I loved it?" He was like, "Yeah." I said they broke up, the H/h broke up NOOOOO!" He looks at me and rolls his eyes. So anyways I was extremely upset but became so wrapped up in Celeste and Justin that it was only in the back of my mind instead of the forefront as a thought it might be. I thought this book was so well written and there were so many quotes that I could copy and paste into this review but it would take me forever.  I loved the message of this book and their was a chapter where Justin is trying to explain to Celeste how boring the world would be is everyone were just clones. What is perceived as normal? Who sets these standards? I loved this chapter and it really made me think... Society has this preconceived notion about how everyone should talk, walk, dress, and act. Why who cares? How boring life would be if everyone did the exact same thing.

So besides being a great book with two HEA's it a great message as well!

Highly recommend!!!

Just Listen (Public Lives #2) by: Clare James

Just Listen (Public Lives, #2)

Copy provided by author for an honest review...5 stars!

I found a new favorite author!

I really loved Finn and Casey's story. This book picks up where Talk to Me left us. I couldn't wait to find out what happened between the two of them and it didn't disappoint. I really liked the writing style and how it was dual point of view as well as them being interviewed. The H/h had great chemistry and I didn't find them to be cheesy or did I find myself rolling my eyes as I so often do with back and forth banter and lines in some romance novels. I felt that the characters were real and as I said in my last review I really liked both the H/h.

I really wish we got a little more of Finn and Casey at the end. I always love an epilogue at the end just giving the reader an idea of how things ended up. Regardless though it was still a great book and I will be reading this authors previous work and future work as well.

Thank you for providing me a copy!

Just finished and 5 starred them both!

I will post reviews soon but loved both of these wonderful books!

The Invisible String by: Patrice Karst

The Invisible String by Patrice Karst I don't review children's books usually but this one I had to...

I recently read this book to my five year old daughter and cried. It was a sweet heartwarming story. I highly recommend it, especially if your child has recently lost a loved one or dealing with separation anxiety. It is such a wonderful message for kids.

Finished Happenstance by: Jamie McGuire

Product DetailsThis was just a sweet story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had me wondering if I'm a bad person for not feeling regret about the accident that ensued.

I wanted to review these books as a series...4-4.5 stars!

Olivia doesn't do relationships or love, everyone she's loved in her life has died so she puts up walls to protect falling in love or even being in close relationships with friends. She has no memory of her past after her parents tragic accident.  She is left with a lot of money and is able to take off when ever she wants when things start getting tough. That's what she has been doing her whole adult life and the friends that she has are used to her running. What Olivia doesn't know is that she holds a secret that very dangerous people are after but she doesn't even know the secret herself because of her memory loss. The only memories she has are in her dreams...are they true? did they happen?

Alexander (Navy Seal) lost his best friend as a child in an accident and hasn't been able to get past it. He feels like she is out there still and in some sense still is looking for her. He visits her grave on the anniversary of her death every year. He also doesn't do relationships and just sleeps around. When Alex rescues Olivia from an attack he realizes just maybe he can let his past go and love again. When Alex finds out the truth about Olivia he starts keeping secrets from her thinking he can protect her from them and her past.

This series was really good, I enjoyed every book. This is the kind of series that had my heart pounding in my chest. The kind of series that had me cursing out the H/h. By the last book I really wish Olivia would have gotten over running from Alex and Alex would have come clean. I do wish the author would have addressed the assaults on Kiera and Olivia instead of skimming over the after math of what they went through physically and mentally. That was really the only fault I found with this series and I enjoyed it as a whole.

Highly recommend.

Alpha by: Jasinda Wilder

4 solid stars!

Product DetailsHere is the blurb...

The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing...except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong."

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me."

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt."

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

The blurb of this book had me and knowing I've liked this authors previous work I had to see what it was about. The beginning of this book had me so wrapped up and intrigued I just had to find out what was going on. I'm not going to write any spoilers in this review but lets just say I don't know if I could have forgiven regardless of the situation. The sex scenes were HOT and although I thought the whole situation was a bit strange I still really liked the book. I did feel that it ended a bit abrupt I would have liked more of an epilogue, but that's just me I always like to see into the characters future a bit. All in all very well written and would recommend.

The Vitamin D Treatment by:Julia Bramer

I loved Tumbleweed by her!  Check out my review.

Incase you missed the review of the first one....Knockout (Wayward Fighters) By: J.C. Valentine

ARC provided 3.5-4 stars!

After a brutal childhood Alyson learned early on that she could only depend on herself. The only other person she could depend on was taken away from her early on; in handcuffs and destined for prison. He too came from a horrible home and sought Aly out to protect her...until he was taken away.

Years later their paths cross again and they reunite.

Jamison has a hot temper and uses it professionally in the ring. When Aly walks into his life again he is determined to keep her there and once again becoming her protector.

Now after years of separation, they are eager to learn about and re-explore each other. Soon the lines of their friendship blurs confusing them both. He thinks he doesn't need a distraction or more than friendship but she might just be the kind of distraction he really needs.

I enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I did have a few issues with how Aly handled certain situations. Aly was a victim of abuse and now a case worker for abused children/families but some of her choices seemed dumb for an intelligent girl who has been through similar situations. I understand she had a big heart and risked her job for a family that needed a home because the situation was so similar to hers growing up, I just didn't feel she took the right precautions. First being that they were supposed to be in hiding but she takes the son to a fight when she knows that this woman's husband is a professional fighter?? There were just too many suspicions things going on for her to turn a blind eye. Especially with what she did for a living.

Those are just a the few issues I had but the story held my attention and I'm anxious to find out what happens next.

Thank you to the author for providing me a copy.

Tapout (Wayward Fighters) by:J.C. Valentine book two

 4.5 stars! ARC provided

Tapout starts off where Knockout left us...Alyson is cringing trying to get through one of Jami's fights.

Jami is now training to be a heavyweight and Don is coming down on him pretty hard.Jami is determined to get in the ring with Tony Michaels.

After a lot of bad judgment calls and Alyson's naivety her actions begin to come crashing down on her and her excuses can not get her out of it. Jami hides something until the last minute from Alyson and she hides things from Jami.

Their relationship is put through the test especially with Don being a constant in Jami's life and not wanting to have anything to do with Alyson. Don is just flat out mean to her for no reason. Then Spencer gets over his head in something dangerous and they need Alyson and Olivia's help to get out of it.

I thought this was a great conclusion to Jamison and Alyson's story.

***Spoiler below ***

Don got me so angry at times and then he asked Jami to get money from Alyson for Spencer's debt like it was no big deal and still treated her like shit.

My favorite quote from Jami to Don, "I don't pretend to understand this hatred you seem to have for Alyson, and I think I've been plenty patient waiting for you to pull your head out of your ass, but this stops. Now."

I wanted to scream, "Go Jami,it's about time!"

And don't get me started on Spencer...he had these great friends that pay back a loan shark and then he keeps the money and Jami is pretty much beaten within a inch of his life because of it. I'm glad Don redeemed himself somewhat at the end.

I was pissed at Jami for walking out on Alyson and then showing up again like he didn't just stomp on her heart. I agree that she should have told Jami she lost her job but not even contacting her for a week was pretty harsh. There is a part in the book where they are talking things through and Jami says something about not liking having a girlfriend working in a bar. I wish Alyson would have retorted and said she didn't realize she was his girlfriend or something along those lines. He did apologize for his outburst though.

I would love to get a story about Spencer and Olivia because even though what Spencer did was terrible I think he can come out of this a good person.

Thanks to the author for providing me a copy of this book.

ARC.... Talk to Me by:Clare James ***5 stars***

ARC provided for an honest review. 5 stars!

*Warning this is part one of Casey and Finn's story and ends with a cliffhanger.*

Finn is a hot young (retired) NHL star.He made an abrupt exit at the height of his career and has been in hiding ever since.

Casey the new hired Sports Girl (much to her disliking) plans to find out why. She plans on finding out the reason Finn has been such a recluse...and if she does she would have uncovered the biggest sports mystery of the decade.

The only problem is feelings start to get in the way and she begins to wonder if solving Finn's mystery is worth getting higher in her career.

This book was so so good! I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Casey and Finn was so well written I thought I was right there with them peeking at their most intimate moments. I also thought they were really likable, a lot of times when you read a book either the H or h get on your nerves but I liked them both. I can't wait for part two!

Review: For King and Country (The Royals Saga #1) by: Geneva Lee

Arc was provided for an honest review...4-4.5 stars

Clara escapes outside of a function and bad set up to get a breather when she runs into a stranger that seems so familiar. After a little badgering he pulls her in for a kiss (earth shattering) to avoid an ex. It wasn't until she woke up to paparazzi and her picture splashed on the cover of tabloids that she realized who he was.

Prince Alexander of Cambridge, known as the royal bad boy

He wants her and she wants him but a relationship is out of the question. He proposes a sexual relationship with no romance and no long term commitment. After deciding to give it a try things move fast and emotions are getting in the way.

They both have secrets that could ruin them and as they are exposed they have to decide if it's worth being together.

I really enjoyed this book but it definitely had the FSOG vibe...Rich troubled controlling alpha male that doesn't do relationships. It does end it a cliff hanger so I'm really anxious to read the next one. If you're looking for something along the same lines as FSOG I would recommend. I really enjoyed the book taking place in England and the slang they use.

The secondary characters are great as well and very well written.
